Strikers Weekly - Week of February 18, 2018

For those of you who celebrate the Lunar New Year, we hope you have a wonderful year ahead.

Congratulations to all competitors in this year's McRoberts Idol.  With a wealth of talent, one student edged out the rest.  Flora will be representing herself and our school at the upcoming Rich City Idol competition.  Congratulations to all of the amazing students who shared their talents with us all.  Good luck Flora at the Rich City Idol!

Congratulations Kelvin - Loran Scholarship Finalist

Congratulations to Kelvin Cui, a grade 12 student, who was a finalist in the prestigious Loran Scholarship competition!  Flown to Toronto, Kelvin was one of 88 finalists from across Canada who took part in national interviews in February for the chance to be selected and awarded a Loran Scholarship. Kelvin has been recognized for his impressive leadership, character, and service in school and the community.

Senior Boys Lower Mainland Championship Bound

After a tight contested win over Caribou Hill, the Senior Boys have officially qualified for the Lower Mainland championships next week at the Richmond Oval.  Congratulations and good luck!

Transfer Decisions Still on Hold

The district continues to work through enrolment, transfer, and staffing considerations for the 2018/2019 school year.  No decisions on 2018/2019 placements or transfer rules have been made, and we thank you for your patience at this time.”

Bland Benches to Art

Thanks to the wonderful skill and creativity of some of our wonderful student artists, a couple of the "blah" benches will have some fresh life breathed into them.  Stayed tuned and watch the progress as we go from Bland to Art.

Pink Week is Coming

Preparations are underway for the Pink Week to support the ERASE Anti-Bullying awareness initiative.

Winter Formal 2018

Over 300 students from across B-C were chosen by their schools to attend a We for She-sponsored event, hosted by the Vancouver Board of trade and former first lady Michelle Obama. Nineteen students from Richmond were chosen to represent their schools at the event, two of them being McRoberts students - Nina H. and Faaiz W. We would like to thank the Vancouver Board of Trade and the B-C government for supporting and contribute to the event, allowing students all over B-C to have a free-of-cost entry into such a high-profile event.
