At McRoberts, we believe that reading is an important life skill. To support this belief McRoberts dedicates 120 minutes a week to Engaged Reading. Engaged Reading (ER) promotes literacy, encourages reading for pleasure, and allows for cross curricular spin offs. Access to a variety of topics and authors as well as a variety of strategies is important to develop “Engaged Readers”. Students are responsible for bringing reading material on a topic of their choice to Engaged Reading. Students on study blocks are expected to participate in Engaged Reading in the Library.
