Congratulation to our Senior Boys Volleyball Team.  Placing second in the South Frasers, the team has won a birth to the Provincial Championship Tournament to be held in Victoria in early December.

 

 

 

 

Bell Schedule Change for Parent Teacher Conferences - November 24 and 25

Just a reminder that the bell schedule will change to accommodate the Parent Teacher Conferences on November 24th and 25th.  Each Day will end at 1pm to make way for virtual conferences beginning at 2pm.

Ms. Frier's Senior Physical Education class strapped on their skates and enjoyed an outing to the rink. 

 

Genocide Studies - Hollocaust Memorial Assignment

 

 

 

Students in Ms. Matheos' Genocide Studies Class shared their creative Hollocaust Memorial Assignments.  The students represented their learning in various ways (including the video above) capturing the emotions behind this special tribute to the many lives that were sadly taken.

 

 

COVID Has Not Stopped Fruit and Vegie Distribution

We are very fortunate to be one of the many schools who have the opportunity to share fruits and vegetables provided by the BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation.  When COVID hit, the distribution was temporarily suspended.  Now, however, with new guidelines and a willing workforce, the distribution has resumed.  Though it requires special handling, an extra cleaning, and individual bagging, our students were given the option to receive a healthy treat this past week.

 

 

Dalgona Challenge - An Interact Fundraiser

Though the stakes were not nearly as high as the recent streaming television series, the game was still fun.  This week, the Interact Club hosted a candy carving challenge.  A fun event, money raised will be used to support a cause selected by this year's Interact Club.

 

 

ChungChun Korean Corn Dog Fundraiser Presented by the Strikers Give Back Club 

The Strikers Give Back Club is selling Korean Corn Dogs (from Chung Chun's) to fundraise for our club to make future events possible! Pre-ordering closes on November 24th and pick up will be on November 26th in the gym at lunch!   Please note that sauce (ketchup and mayo) will be on all corn dogs! 

  • Flavours - Full Mozeralla Corn Dog, Half Beef Half Mozeralla, Ramen Chip with Full Beef
  • Selection of how many corndogs people would like and which ones (quantity for each flavour)

The Grad Legacy committee is launching Head, Hands and Feet: an initiative to provide those in need in the Downtown Eastside with Winter necessity packages. We would greatly appreciate your contributions!

November Passion Speaker - Professional Car Designer

This month, Convergence brings a professional car designer to share his career preparation and journey.

Dr. Victor Martinez 

Started his professional career as car designer in Mexico and later in Italy collaborating in projects for FIAT, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Italdesign-Giugiaro among many others. He has worked as an independent designer for 20 years wining a Red Dot Award, and as academic has explored the sustainability and future of design linked to Systems Thinking and Complexity Theory.
