Thank you for your interest in Human Services & Skills Exploration! This course will support students to deeply understand and put into practice the following Big Ideas:
- Meaningful experiences outside of school expand our personal, social and professional skills while providing opportunities for self-exploration and community engagement.
- Personal and community awareness are developed through an inquiry mindset: the cycle of questioning, planning/collaborating, reflecting, adapting, and deciding next steps.
- Understanding and applying one's personal rights and responsibilities as a volunteer builds a safer environment for all of us.
This course will help students to create a framework for critically considering how community needs are assessed and acted upon, and how volunteerism can impact individuals, organizations and society at large. Using this framework, students will be able to identify authentic volunteer opportunities, engage meaningfully with their communities, and reflect on their experiences.
This form, along with your attendance record and overall academic standing, will help in determining successful applicants in the event that there are more students applying than there are spaces available.
If you have any questions about the course or whether or not it will be a good fit for you, please email Ms. Hudson. Thank you again for your interest!
The Deadline for this application is Monday, March 1st at 9:00am.
