Impact of COVID through a lens of Core Competencies
For a part of our Professional Development Day today, we once again "brought in" students and staff to have another world café. Unlike our previous world cafe, we did this one remotely. Students and staff connected via Zoom. While the students and staff were physically distant, the conversatons and discussions were rich. Though we are still unpacking what we learned, it will definitely aid us in the direction we wish to proceed. As the current Pandemic and Pandemic Protocols are having such a significant impact on students' lives, it is paramount to include this in our both how and where we plan in moving forward.
Here are the questions we discussed:
- Question #1 Learning Structures: What have we learned from the quarter system? What has worked well? What has not worked well? Moving into next year, whether we are in quarters, semestered or linear, what structures would we like to keep?
- Question #2 Connectedness: How are we feeling this year with respect to a feeling of wellness and connection with the school community? How has this affected our learning? Our teaching?
- Question #3 Rebuilding Community:
- How can we improve the wellness of our community? What can we do to improve our sense of community and build connections with our current context in mind? Looking forward to next year, what can we do to rebuild?
With the help our RIS team, we hope to view the data through the lense of our work on Core Comptencies Development (a natural fit based on the feedback collected).
