Timetable Structure

Personal Learning Time

Personal Learning Time (PLT) is an opportunity for students to work either independently or with staff support.  Below are some of the principles of PLT.

  • All students are required to attend PLT in a learning space
  • Teachers will be available for 96 minutes per week (Tuesdays & Thursdays) to support PLT
  • Staff PLT/Prep time will be balanced so students may have access to all subject areas during PLT.

Collaboration Time

Collaboration Time 8 times per year on Fridays. McRoberts staff work collaboratively to enrich their teaching practices, address various learning and administrative needs, and continue building a welcoming school community.  The inclusion of collaborative time for staff has been invaluable, as it allows our large staff with diverse schedules to communicate and problem-solve issues regarding changing curriculum and assessment, share inclusive classroom practices, and build engaging lessons for our students.  This in turn helps teachers improve our feedback to students and parents when reporting, to make education more transparent to our community.  Of course, we recognize that learning encompasses not only academic factors, but social factors as well, and collaboration provides teachers the space to plan and support students’ extracurricular passions and create safe spaces for students to explore those interests.
