National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
On this day, we honour both Survivors and the children who never returned home from residential schools. September 30th is a federal statutory holiday to honour survivors, their families and their communities, in the road towards reconciliation.
Wear Orange
Both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 30.
On this day we wear orange to raise awareness of the impacts of residential schools, and to remember that "Every Child Matters."
On September 29th at school, as well as on September 30th, we encourage all of our community to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools.
