Student Loans:  
StudentAid BC helps eligible students with the cost of their post-secondary education.  If you are a B.C. resident planning to attend a college, university, public institute or private training school, you are may be eligible to apply for a student loan.
B.C. student loans are provided by the provincial government and Canada student loans are provided by the federal government. The RBC Future Launch Scholarship – apply all year round 

Is an innovative new scholarship program for young Canadians (ages 15-29) looking to learn new skills for the modern workforce.
The Scholarship is valued at $1,500 and will be will be awarded to those who show passion and a clear vision for their future
This is for youth enrolled part-time in school or not in school at all

DEC 31/24 Beedie Luminaries BUILD Program Deadline

The demand for skilled tradespeople is on a significant rise across Canada. The vision for the new Beedie Luminaries trades scholarship program is to create a pathway for aspiring students to begin their journey toward a rewarding career in the skilled trades to address the critical skills gap in B.C.’s growing economy.

Over the first five years of the program, the BUILD scholarship fund will assist more than 285 students, distributing upwards of $5.5 million. In its inaugural year, the BUILD program will select 25 students who are facing financial and other life adversities, and are wishing to pursue a rewarding career in the skilled trades. Each eligible student will receive up to $20,000 over four years – for a total commitment of up to $500,000 for the first cohort alone, including two scholarships funded by the RBC Women in Trades and Investment in Skills initiative.

The 2024/25 pilot will focus on supporting up to 25 students entering BCIT to pursue the nationally designated certification programs (under the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program) in the following construction trades roles that are among the top in-demand in BC:

Welders

Sheet Metal Workers

NOV 30/24 Geraldo Donato Vertone Biennal Scholarship Deadline

The goal of the Geraldo Donato Vertone Biennal Scholarship is to give any student with the desire to further his/her education an equal opportunity to do so. We recognize that academic achievement is important, however we consider effort and genuine desire to learn just as essential. It is a combination of these two elements that ultimately leads to success.

The Geraldo Donato Vertone Biennal Scholarship is open to any student who is willing to work hard toward their education. It is that effort we hope to reward with $400.

TO QUALIFY APPLICANTS MUST: - Be of Italian origin - Be resident in BC - Attend, or be accepted at a university or community college leading to a university degree (letter of acceptance or copy of university transcript must be provided) - Send an application letter detailing reasons for applying, along with one letter of reference. The U of T National Scholarship rewards original, creative and committed Canadian secondary school students. These are students who demonstrate superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context. They excel in academic pursuits, demonstrate enthusiasm for intellectual exploration and have a strong involvement in the lives oftheir schools and communities. 

The National Scholarship covers tuition, incidental and residence fees for up to four years of study. Finalists not designated as National Scholars receive Arbor Scholarships at a value of $7,500 in the first year and $1,500 per year for three additional years of undergraduate study.

OCT 15/24 The Credit Union Foundation of BC deadline to apply 

The Credit Union Foundation of BC was established to support our members in their journey through post-secondary education. In this co-operative spirit, credit unions have helped thousands of members pursue their dreams and in turn build stronger and more vibrant communities. 15 scholarships valued each at $3,000.
The CUFBC has three application periods each year: Fall: September 1 – October 15 | Winter: January 1 – February 15 | Spring: May 1 – June 15. 

Fall application period is open.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants who do not meet the following criteria are not eligible for a bursary.
• All applicants must have a demonstrated financial need.
• Proof of enrolment, tuition payment and transcripts are required.
• A recent letter of reference from a credit union, coach or other individual that speaks to your community involvement and shared credit union values is required.
• Applicants must be BC residents who are Canadian Citizens, a permanent resident of Canada or designated as a protected person.
• Applicants must attend a public Canadian post-secondary school when the application is submitted.
• Applicants attending accredited private schools will only be considered if the program is not offered at a public school. Applicants must provide a statement as to why they are not attending a public school and provide a receipt for tuition.
• Programs of study may be academic, vocational, technical or technological.
Award Process:
• Applications will be reviewed via awards committee, taking into consideration financial need, the length of the program, the year of study, efforts to minimize costs, personal statement of special circumstances, grades, etc. All decisions are final.
• Bursaries are disbursed during the course of the program. The CUFBC will send funding by Interac e-transfer to the email address on file. Students will be notified as to when they can expect to receive their funding.
• Recipients may be eligible for up to two awards per year.
As required by Revenue Canada, a T4A will be issued the following spring for income tax purposes. It is the responsibility of the recipient to advise us of any address changes.

Loran Funds are awarded to 160 promising young Canadians who show strength of character and a commitment to service in their communities, challenging them to fully realize their leadership potential. 

Eligibility Criteria

Must be graduating high school in 2025 or if you graduated in 2024 & are taking a gap year

Hold a minimum cumulative average of 85%

Be a Canadian citizenship or hold PR status 

Be born between January 1, 2003 & September 1, 2009. 


This award is renewable for up to four years, with a total value of $100,000, each Loran Award includes: 
An annual living stipend of $10,000 
A tuition waiver of up to $10,000 annually from one of 25 partner universities 
Personal mentorship from a Canadian leader 
Experiential learning through summer work experiences in three different sectors with funding up to $14,000 
An orientation expedition through Algonquin Park 
Annual retreats and scholar gatherings 
Lifelong membership in a community of values-driven individuals

OCT 1/24 Girls Impact the World Scholarship Awards deadline to apply 

Scholarship Value: $5,000 and 12 scholarships will awarded. 

The ConnectHER Film Festival is an international youth competition that welcomes short films about issues that impact women and girls. Before making a film for submission, please read all of the following entry requirements and FAQs. 

Films must focus on one of the listed topics: global girls’ education, women and work, ending violence against women, women refugees, women's global health issues, women and the environment, women and girls in tech, and redefining beauty.

  • Every type of filmmaking form and style will be accepted; whether animation or live-action, documentary or narrative.
  • Filmmakers must be 13 to 25 years old at the submission date. That means that scripts, storyboards, directing, cinematography, editing, etc., must be done by people who meet this age requirement. Actors can be any age.
  • Films must be original works that have not yet been screened at other major film festivals.
  • Films must have been completed after January 1, 2024.
  • Films must be 3 to 6 minutes long.
  • Film file formats accepted are .mov and .mp4. HD resolution and optimized sound quality are highly preferred. Digital submission through Google Drive is preferred, but WeTransfer or Dropbox also works.
  • Our viewers love to see and know about local organizations that are working on solutions! At the end of your film, please include a graphic that highlights two local/national/regional organization names & logos that are working to solve the issue or problem addressed in your film.
  • All films must be subtitled in English.
  • Films must be submitted by the deadline to qualify. No late submissions will be accepted.

SEPT 15/24 Cerebral Palsy Association of BC Education Bursaries deadline to apply

Making a life without limits one student at a time – that’s what the Cerebral Palsy Association of BC has been doing since 1994 with their bursary program – open to any student with cerebral palsy, living in BC, 17 years and older and wishing to attend an institute of higher learning next year. The funds for this bursary have been jointly funded by the Kinsmen Foundation and the Cerebral Palsy Association of BC.
Eligibility & Reporting Guidelines:
Applicant must reside in British Columbia and be a member of our association (membership is free and can be filled out here).
Education Bursaries may be used towards the cost of the course/program, hiring a support attendant, and/or transportation costs
You may attend your choice of post secondary institute located in British Columbia
Successful applicants are required to provide a short letter and optional photo/s (print or electronic version) describing your educational experience.  These are used for promotional materials and to thank donors for their support.  Photo release form should be signed and submitted via mail if you provide a photo.

MAR 31/25 SFU Entrance Awards and Bursaries deadline to apply (opens Nov 1)
SFU offers several bursaries and awards to assist students for whom the cost of attending university would be a significant impediment.
To be considered, applicants must be applying for the Fall 2025 term, be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and have a demonstrated financial 
need. In addition, applicants must have grades in the 80% range in courses required for their primary program or the minimum IB diploma score required for admission (excluding predicted bonus points).
FEB 15/25 12:59 pm PST The Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship - deadline to apply
A nomination is not required.
The Pathway to the Teacher Education Scholarship is awarded to 20 outstanding high school graduates who have demonstrated a commitment to and aptitude for a career in K–12 teaching.
Students selected for this award receive a $5,000 scholarship voucher from the Ministry of Education and Child Care that they can use to be reimbursed for tuition paid after they are attending an approved teacher education program in the Faculty of Education at a B.C. post-secondary institution. To qualify, the program must lead to eligibility to apply for a B.C. teaching certificate and teach in the K–12 school system in this province.
Students have seven years to redeem their Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship vouchers; an expiry date is printed on each voucher and extensions are not possible.
 
Students selected as conditional recipients of the Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship must meet the following requirements by August 31 of their graduating year to be confirmed as a recipient and receive their scholarship voucher: 
meet core eligibility requirements;
be eligible for a B.C. Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma);
fulfill the requirements of the B.C. Graduation Program; and,
have the following final marks.
Minimum “B” average in grades 11 and 12 courses required for graduation
Minimum "B" (73% or above) in Language Arts 12
Minimum “B” average, no more than one "C+" (67% or above), and no marks lower than “C+” in courses that fulfill graduation requirements for Science 11 or 12, Math 11, and Social Studies 11 or 12
Note: students may apply for both the Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship and the BC Excellence scholarship but can be awarded only one.
