If you have any questions, please contact the school office (mcroberts@sd38.bc.ca).
Report cards/learning updates may not look the same as when you were in school or may look different from what you received for your child last year. However, you can trust that the information you will receive will provide a clear picture of what your child can do, where they can improve, and how you can support their learning.
The Ministry of Education and Child Care, responsible for creating reporting requirements, has provided information for parents and caregivers on the changes to report cards this school year, included below and provided in multiple languages:
K-12 Student Reporting Information and Resources for Parents and Caregivers
Communicating Student Learning: Information for Parents and Caregivers
In addition to publishing the report card/learning update, we will be also publishing a Graduation Status Report for all grade 10 to 12 students to provide a summary of the student’s progress toward graduation requirements. This report will be published twice per year at the end of each semester. If there are questions, students should make an appointment to see their counsellor.
For more information, please click here for information from the Ministry of Education.
Student Interim Reports will be prepared for all students as a learning update for families. To support student learning, this interim report provides initial feedback on students’ engagement, behaviour, and learning progress. We will email this report directly to parents and students. Please contact the school office (mcroberts@sd38.bc.ca) to update your email contact.
For full-year courses that are off-timetable (i.e., ELL 5, Yearbook, Human Services, Peer Helping, CP Work Experience, CLE DL, and CLC Capstone), a learning update is provided on a MyEd Report Card (Nov & Apr) and will not be published on interim reports.
Between the midterm and end-of-semester report cards, there will be a learning update for only students who are experiencing challenges in their course(s) and/or are at risk of not being successful in their course(s). We will email this report directly to parents and students.
If you do not receive this learning update, please do not be alarmed because only select students will receive this report.
Formal Report Cards/Learning Updates will be published to MyEd Parent Portal accounts. When report cards are ready, parents will need to access the Parent Portal (https://myeducation.gov.bc.ca/aspen/logon.do). Follow the instructions in the e-mail to activate the account.
Instructions for logging in to the Parent Portal are on the McRoberts Website under the ‘Parents’ top tab > MyEdBC Parent Portal. You can click here for the direct link for instructions and to request assistance with logins. We encourage families to view reports through the MyEd portal, but printed copies of report cards upon request by contacting the office. MyEd reports are only viewable for a limited time, so students and families need to download the documents for their records.
For parents who are using the Parent Portal for the first time: Parent accounts are created by the district. When the process is completed, parents will receive an e-mail notification that will include login instructions.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are held in person on the week following Term 1 Report Cards/Learning Updates are published (Nov & Apr). Appointments can be made using the online booking system (School Appointments), which was used before at McRoberts. Instructions regarding the online booking system are sent on Friday following the publication of Term 1 Report Cards/Learning Updates.
