Semester 1 - Term 1 Learning Update and Parent-Teacher Conferences (Nov 20 & 21)

The following is an update for Semester 1 – Student Reporting.  This information and all updates are also posted on our website (Homepage > Parents > Learning Update Updates).

Important Dates:

  • Semester 1 Term 1 Learning Update (Published via MyEd Parent Portal)– November 14, 2024
  • Semester 1 Parent Teacher Conferences – November 20 and 21, 2024
  • Semester 1 At-Risk Interim Reports (Published via email)– December 12, 2024
  • Semester 1 Final Learning Update (Published via MyEd Parent Portal) – February 6, 2025

Learning Updates:

As we have indicated in previous messages, we will be posting digital Semester 1 Term 1 Learning Updates in MyEd Parent Portal accounts on Thursday, November 14th after 4:00 PM.  There will be an email notification from MyEd to notify you that Learning Updates have been published.

Note: We are trying a new system by sending Learning Update attachments by email.  Although there will still be some hard copies of attachments that will be sent home with students, we hope to send all attachments by email when possible. 

In the process of preparing these Learning Updates, teachers are presently entering marks into MyEd. Please note that when a staff member “Posts” their marks, parents may receive a notification in the Parent Portal indicating that marks have been posted and parents will then be able to see the mark entered for that specific course. It is important to note that these marks are not final and may be subject to change as staff review and confirm the marks that they have entered.

Semester 1 Term 1 Learning Updates that will be posted in PDF format on Thursday, November 14th will provide the accurate assessment for students, including a mark and a comment.

To view the document in your account, select the ‘Pages’ top tab and on the right side of the page you can find the PDF Learning Update under ‘Published Reports’.  Only published reports on Thursday, November 14th are official Learning Updates.  Any information that is posted before Thursday, November 14th is not finalized.  It is recommended that you save the document immediately as the Learning Update is only posted on the Parent Portal for a limited time.

To access the Parent Portal, please go to https://myeducation.gov.bc.ca/aspen/logon.do.  Instructions for logging in to the Parent Portal is on the McRoberts Website under the ‘Parents’ top tab.  You can click here for the direct link for instructions and to request assistance with logins.  Please take the time now to log into the Parent Portal to ensure that you have access.  Learning Updates are posted on the MyEdBC Portal and Core Competencies Reflections are sent by email as an attachment.  We encourage families to view reports through the MyEd portal, but printed copies of Learning Updates upon request by contacting the office.

Between the formal Learning Updates (Nov 2024 and Feb 2025), there will be a learning update for only students who are experiencing challenges in their course(s) An email will be sent home with the attached learning update on Dec 12th.  If you do not receive this learning update, please do not be alarmed because only select students will receive this report.

 

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Nov 20 (2-4, 6-8 pm) and 21 (2-4 pm)

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held in-person.  Appointments can be made using the online booking system (School Appointments), which was used before at McRoberts.  Further instructions regarding the online booking system will be provided on Friday, November 15th
